Darmstadt
The eastern main edge fault of the Oberrheingraben runs right through Darmstadt. Large parts of the western part of Darmstadt are built up by geologically young sediments of the Upper Rhine Graben. To the east of the fault, on the other hand, there are several 100 million year old crystalline rocks, which are geologically considered to be part of the Odenwald. In detail, the fault consists of several sections of different orientation. The course of the fault can also be seen morphologically in the rise of the terrain, as can be seen for example at the State Theatre.
