Displacement measuring instrument
TM 71 Crack Gauge
The displacement measuring device was the first equipment installed in the measuring station and has been supplying measurement data since 2007. The device opto-mechanically records the relative movements at the disturbance, both in horizontal and vertical direction, with accuracies of hundredths of a millimeter. For this purpose, a linkage was inserted into the rock on both sides of the fault. Relative movements between the two rock blocks separated by the fault generate optical interference patterns that can be converted into movement amounts. In the meantime, the data acquisition is carried out automatically by a camera system which transmits the images directly to the connected servers for evaluation. The measuring device is operated in cooperation with the Institute of Rock Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and is part of the EU TecNet project with more than 140 measuring stations throughout Europe.
